Senior/Gentle/Beginner

These classes are designed to move at a slower pace. Students will use chairs, blocks, belts, the wall or whatever is needed to allow maximum benefit from each and every pose. The basics of Iyengar will be taught, learning correct alignment of the body while building strength and flexibility. No yoga experience is required.

Level I/Beginner

These classes are designed to teach the basics of Iyengar yoga. Correct alignment, breathing and the full range of standing poses, seated poses, twists, forward bends and some backbends will be taught. The student will begin to gain better awareness of the body, mind connection. No yoga experience is required.

Level II

These classes are for those students who have completed at least one session of Level I. Inversions will be introduced as well as more challenging standing poses and backbends. At least one session of Level I or one year of yoga experience is required.

What should I bring and wear to class a yoga class?

First, bring an open mind and a light spirit. If you have your own yoga mat, blocks or belt bring them. If not, most places will supply a mat and all other props. Please wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes and if possible clothing that allows the teacher to see your feet, ankles, knees and legs.

Do I need experience?

We welcome beginners into the Senior/Gentle and Level I classes. Level II classes require at least one session of Level I or one year of yoga experience.

Injuries or limitations

Please inform the teacher of any injuries or limitations you have which may hinder your movement or cause you pain during class. This is for your benefit and will help the teacher modify the poses to fit your needs.

Please be on time

Class begins and ends promptly at the time designated on the schedule. It is understood that occasionally events prevent one from being on time. Promptness is for you safety and benefit, as well as that of your fellow students.
